Teen Camp

summer-camp-2017

2017 Teen Camp is July 17-21

An amazing week for anyone who will have just completed 6th-12th grades. There’s swimming, zipline, sports tournaments, horseback riding, late-night fun stuff, MOOSE games (trust us, it’s awesome!), lots of friends, amazing music, great messages, and that’s just the start. Grow closer to Christ, make new friends, build deeper friendships, and begin to grasp a bigger vision for how God views you and your world. Teen camp is awesome!

BIBLE READING CHALLENGE:

Right now, we are called to be a part of God’s Mission in this world. We are called to GO! At camp, we’ll be finding about what it looked like for the very first followers of Christ to live out God’s Mission in this world. We’ll be looking at the book of Acts. We want to invite you to participate in the book of Acts Bible Reading Challenge. The challenge begins June 19th and ends on July 16th, the day before teen camp kicks off. As we open God’s Word together, we’ll see that it becomes alive and active.

NO PHONES @ TEEN CAMP

We believe that one of the best ways to create a space for God to work in the lives of students is through face-to-face community. In an effort to focus on forming in-the-moment relationships, we are asking (read: requiring) students to keep their phones at home this year. Screens and Social Media are by no means inherently bad; however, we believe the overall camp experience is greatly improved as we move distractions from our lives for the 96 hours of camp and ask God to work in our lives. We trust that you will receive this requirement with the grace it’s intended.

To put your (and parents) mind at ease: We will make special effort to have photographers and videographers present in order to capture the significant moments. Parents, we ask that you communicate with the youth worker(s) from your local church if you’d like to receive daily updates from your son/daughter. Additionally, if you are a parent in need of a personal phone contact while your teen is at camp, simply email the director (madteencamp@gmail.com) and we will send you phone contact info that you can use to reach your son/daughter while at camp. Finally, we will be providing multiple updates each day of camp on our Facebook (Mid-Atlantic District Teen Camp) and Instagram (@madteencamp) pages.

*Adult Sponsors: You are able to bring your phones with you. In fact, you will be a part of the “answer” to parents from your local church who will want to ensure they can reach their students while they are at camp. However, a big part of the success of our “no phones for students” policy will be in us (adults) committing to not using our phones excessively. If you have any questions about the phone policy, or anything else, contact Brian at madteencamp@gmail.com.

ADULT SPONSORS, JOIN US!

Spend five days making a lifetime difference in the lives of students…and yourself. Churches are encouraged to send at least 1 sponsor for every 8 students. Churches are also encouraged to pay the $100 sponsor cost. To register as a sponsor, simply follow the same registration instructions as the students registration, listed above. Simply select the “Adult Sponsor” at the beginning of that registration process.
